Ive had several over the years including Edgrr (not a typo) who lived almost 18 years. In general as a breed they are very good family dogs. They do well indoors not super heat tolerant. Generally good with kids as long as they are socialized.

I highly recommend the breed. As long as you have the time for a pet and all the normal training that goes along with them.

I would get him to the vet cause he seems really sick. As far as the ear goes make sure it is clean at all times and if it is infected then it needs anitbotics. Call your vets in your area and tell them your situation and see if they will work with you on a payment plan.

Your Vet prescribed lasix’s correct? Did he/she also give you something with potassium in it? My dog (sr) was diagnosed a week ago with CHF – she had x-rays of her chest – does your dog have an enlarged heart? Did the x-ray show fluid in the lungs or? I was given Clavamox – it’s an antibiotic, amoxicillin with potassium – that’s extremely important – lasix’s deplete the potassium levels which can do damage to her heart or worse. I would get another Vet for a 2nd opinion -it doesn’t hurt at all. I don’t have lots of money but I would do anything it takes to help my dog. I have never given my dogs/cats anything high in sodium – especially with the CHF it’s really important to read any labels – cook chicken (boil) without the skin – maybe try the Hill’s prescription diet – just giving you my thoughts. I keep mine occupied. Put a smear of peanut butter on the floor or somewhere and squirt while he works on the peanut butter. I put it on a long rubber toy and hold the toy between my legs while sitting on a chair so I can get to the dog’s head easily. Good luck!
